The Founder.

Tawanda Chirenda is the Founder of Becoming a Willing Student® (BAWS), a small business growth and leadership blog supporting small business owners who are already in business and navigating the realities of growth.

A business growth coach, speaker, and workshop facilitator, Tawanda works with committed small business owners facing the practical challenges that come with building and growing a business - strengthening leadership, improving decision-making, refining strategy, building stronger teams, and growing with greater clarity and confidence.

His work is grounded in both lived experience and a deep belief that business growth requires more than ambition alone.

Like many business owners, Tawanda has experienced seasons of uncertainty and struggle in both business and life. Those experiences shaped his belief that growth becomes more sustainable when business owners have the right support, perspective, and trusted partnerships around them.

This belief became the foundation for Becoming a Willing Student®.

At the heart of Tawanda’s work is the Becoming a Willing Student philosophy - the idea that successful business ownership requires continuous learning, adaptability, and the willingness to evolve as both a leader and decision-maker.

Tawanda believes that growth-stage business owners do not need generic motivation. They need practical guidance, honest conversations, and support grounded in the realities of running a business.

With a thoughtful, authentic, and results-oriented approach, he helps business owners clarify priorities, strengthen leadership capacity, and build stronger, more resilient businesses positioned for sustainable growth.

His work is rooted in a simple belief:

Growth is not about having all the answers.

It is about becoming a willing student.
